when really, it’s not

Salam.

Falling in love is asking to be hurt, deceived and betrayed

Cas   : at this moment, i love him completely.....but if i carry on like this, the next thing you'll know is that i'll   be giving him a pet name and wanting him to be my husband.
Issie  : ...and what's so terrible about that?
Cas   : What if he doesn't feel the same? What if i care for him more than he cares for me?
Issie  : but from what you said, he sounds besotted
Cas   : Well, men always are at first, arent they? Then when the girl's hooked they stop calling. The power in  every relationship sits with the person who cares least.

Another Hour on a Sunday Morning

Salam.

Hi.
"Life may not be fair, but when you have someone to believe in, life can be managed, and sometimes, even miraculous"
Another fantastic novel, Another Hour on a Sunday Morning by Julia Scheeres  that i would recommend others to read it. Very nice, very touching and i bet you would cry reading it. the emotion is just there!

"All Julia Scheeres ever wanted was to have a normal, happy family. But, when her fanatical mother decides they should all move to rural Indiana, Julia's life begins to unravel. In the blistering heat of the isolating community, Julia and her adopted brother David struggle together through adolescence. But with a mother whose first concern is her church missionaries, and a distant father whose rare presence is resented by all and feared by others, home for Julia becomes a place of unspeakable secrets.."
and reading this novel, you just could not expect what would happen next or what would the end be like. This is a true story of the writer's childhood - that will break your heart and mend it again. and i bet, the ending would make you cry - happiness? sorrow? - read it yourself! :)
"I go through the program like a circus tiger, obeying commands and conceiling my true nature ;
knowing that one day my fangs and claws shall be useful once more."
p/s: sometimes we dont know that one is enduring so much pain until we learn his story.

Book club?

Salam.

Hi ..

"Laurie: You can marry someone you are lucky to get, or you can marry someone who's lucky to get you.
(i used to think the first was best. Now i dont know. Wouldnt it be better to spend your life with someone who thinks he's lucky to be there?)
Prudie: Why cant you both be lucky?
Laurie: You can wait for that if you like.
(but Laurie was the one who hadnt married yet)"
*****

ok, ive finally finished reading The Jane Austen Book Club by Karen Joy Fowler.
like, duhh... finally abes pon kau baca..like weeks kot baca. T_T
and the book, i actually bought it in 2009 at VUW secondhand bookstall.
it was just NZD8. so why not. plus, it has Jane Austen name in front. so i grabbed it!

and..........

i like the story. it is something refreshing.
about 6 people and their book club. of course, the book club discusses all Austen's novels.
but the way Fowler narrates the stories of these 6 people is nice and i could somehow connect myself with one of the characters in the novel..
the story isnt about Austen's novels per se, it is also bout friendship, understanding, life and relationship.
and while i was reading this novel, i couldnt stop imagining the six of us (of course my sisters), somehow in next  5 or 10 years, (hopefully married with a husband each and gorgeous children..haha) we gather around in one of our houses, and discuss bout things. ok, books- if it really goes like the novel.
it would be really fun i think. it is like Poker Night in Desperate Housewives..:D.

So this is the new cover. mine is not like that.
yes, book club tuh ada sorang lelaki..hehe
so imagine, the one who is holding a cup of coffee is F (coz u like coffee..haha), then on the chair is H, and then sitting -left is N, the gorgeous one with pink armvelope is ME..hehe and with the spec is D. So the guy we give it to Z coz she likes to act like one very much..:p. and dog tuh ganti with Spot..awww! :p

oh berangan..ok, sambung2 book review!

HOWEVER.... the only thing i dont quite like bout the novel is how sometimes, Fowler really discusses Austen's 6 novels in depth. i know, what do you expect right? the title itself says, Jane Austen book club. takkan nak discuss pasal cite Spiderman pulak kann?? but yeah, what i did, when it was 'too much', i just skipped the part, without losing the gist of the story of course.
and as usual, in almost every novel that i have read, i would share some quotes that i reckon interesting.
"When Allegra first start climbing, she would hang in one spot for too long, contemplating the best way to make her next grab. Her arms and fingers would begin to burn with exhaustion. She noticed the experienced climbers moved vey very quickly. Staying still was more work than moving ; thinking too much was fatal."

and the last intriguing quote,

"She was not a happy ending sort of person herself. In books, yes, they were lovely. but in life, everyone has the same ending, and the only question is who will get to it first.
What if you had a happy ending and didnt notice?"

p/s: yes, everything seems so  wonderful in novels and dramas. real life is so much more than that. Perhaps, it is not an ending yet, if it is not a happy one..
